What am I doing now? Well currently I am proctoring the ACT at a high school in El Segundo, CA. Why am I proctoring? Because it will bring in extra income to reach my ultimate goal of purchasing and owning a home. Lately, I've been reading many self-help books and been trying to learn more about entrepreneurship, mentorship and about finances in general. I just finished reading Grant Cardone's book, The 10X Rule. While it is an inspiring book, and makes you feel like productivity is key to life, I did think that it was a bit much sometimes because people just want to enjoy life sometimes and I think that is okay. On the other hand, I can also understand how they key to success may be money and in order to get money that requires much work, productivity and discipline. So, how does all this relate? Essentially, I am going through a journey... it may be part of what is called growing older, but I feel like since I graduated with my Master's degree and fulfilled this important goal, I need to now focus on my next goals that do not involve education. Those goals include owning a home, paying off student debt loans, spending time with family, starting a family (not now, but eventually), learning as much as possible, traveling and serving my community. As I realized my goals, I also realized that these goals are not achievable without financial stability. I can't pay off student debt without money, I can't spend time with my family if I am not in a position where I can afford to do that. I have to pay bills to live, and I have to do that on my own. So now my journey involves earning money to be able to afford all the things I want out of life. Not only do I think this will help me personally, but it will also allow us Latinas to rise above what is expected, and eventually give back to my family and my community. En la union se hace la fuerza. May we all rise to fulfill our dreams and goals as people of color!
