I have been MIA from my blog. Moving forward, I want to post a blog at least once a month (at the very least).
Today, though, I want to talk about New Year's festivities because it was too much fun! First, my sister, brother-in-law and myself landed in Seattle, Washington. Then, we drove out to Vancouver, Canada. While on our road trip of about 3 hours, I read Eres un Chingon (You are a Badass in English) by Jen Sincero. I absolutely loved that book and would recommend! It empowered me to the max and inspired me to reach beyond my goals. I plan to read the English version this week!
Back to my trip. Once we got to Vancouver, we rested for a bit then went to a bar in Downtown Vancouver. Vancouver is a beautiful city. There are so many lights, so much movement and lots of diversity. Those are some of the things I enjoy most about Canada. Next day, we had breakfast our favorite restaurant, De Dutch where they sell their famous, Pannekoeken. Essentially, it's the most fluffiest pancake ever- it's so delicious! Then went to Capilano State Bridge, which is beautiful as always and learned a little bit more about the trees and forest. Following that, we went to the Kings hockey game, which was our original reason for going to Vancouver. We won! #GKG
Next day, we went to Grouse Mountain, or the peak of Vancouver, for what was a Winter Wonderland. They had reindeer, skiing, snowboarding, a trail of lights, hot cocoa, ice skating and ginger bread house. I truly felt as if I was in the North Pole. Finally, the last day in Vancouver, we passed by Stanley Park, which has beautiful scenery. Then, off to Seattle we went. While we were there, it was more of a chill vacation. We did some sight seeing at the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, first Starbucks ever!, Klondike Gold Rush Museum, Seattle Great Wheel and Pier 57. While there, we found an amazing Mexican restaurant called Taqueria Cantina. More than anything though, Seattle has beautiful skyscrapers. Again, I was feeling inspired by the beautiful architecture and buildings. It made me want to live in an area like that.
Finally, on our last day before heading back to LAX, we drove to Oregon where we saw the Latourell Falls, which was a beautiful waterfall. We passed by the Columbia Gorge River and Portland, Oregon. I was a bit disappointed in Portland, as it was not a magical city to me. It seemed a bit underdeveloped. Overall, though, the scenery and nature was beautiful. On our way to the Latourell Falls, though, we stepped out for a moment and we almost flew from how windy it was outside! I had never experienced anything like that, but hey there's a first for everything.
